I don't care for rumors. Sure an Apple Tablet would have been neat, but I didn't expect it. Sure a real video iPod would be neat, but I didn't expect that either. To be honest, I would have purchased either of those products. I was disappointed that MacBooks (intel iBooks) weren't announced. I was disappointed that more MacBook Pros weren't announced. I was disappointed that intel Mac Minis are so expensive and now have integrated video.

I had planned on purchasing an intel Mac Mini to replace my old freebsd server. Yeah, I can hook it up to my tv, but isn't the logical next step for Front Row to become a full fledged dvr solution? On tuaw this morning (or maybe last night?) they mentioned that the Apple is trying to make the Mac Mini an entry level Apple machine as well as a Media Center type box and because of this, they are failing at both. It's a really great point. How about they make four version of the Mac Mini. Two called, simply, the Mac Mini with fairly decent specs (single core processors). Two called the Mac Mini for Media with high performance graphics, iSight (I wouldn't mind setting that box on top of my tv and having a video chat), serious storage and a real dvr solution. Everything is in place to make Front Row real dvr software. I know they're working on it. The only feature update to Front Row has been bonjour connectivity to others' libraries. Hey, that's a pretty neat feature, but how about some more.

Aside from Macs, what the hell are they doing with audio. A hundred dollars for a leather ipod case. Tell me, did Apple jump the shark yesterday or have they been this way for a while? An the hi-fi? How can they possibly make it so you can 'just pop in six D batteries' and still have the ipod standing up like its a real dock. Lay the damn thing down. I won't even get into the price on this thing. Really great stereos are ridiculously expensive, so maybe it's warranted. I can't see them calling it a home stereo replacement though. Home stereos arent only for listening to music off your ipod. People have cds also... people listen to the radio... people listen to records... hey guess what stevie j, people WATCH DVDs AND HAVE SURROUND SOUND. Okay, so surround sound... not good for normal audio because you want front stage for everything to image properly. But stop trying to justify the price by saying youre going to ditch your really expensive stereo for this thing, because you aren't.

Oh, and again... a hundred dollars for a leather ipod case?! The only way I'm buying that is if it makes me dinner, too.
